Resident Directors (RDs)
Resident Directors (RDs) are graduate students and serve as quasi-resident fellows. They live in the Sophomore College dorms and supervise the SCAs in their role in the residences. SoCo 2009 has two RDs, Mireya Obregón and Corrie Potter.
Mireya Obregón

Mireya Obregón is a Ph.D. candidate in Musicology at Stanford. Her dissertation focuses on Avant-garde composition and sci-fi film scores of the 1950s. Other research interests include opera and literature in fin-de-siècle Vienna, Norteño music, the use of extended vocal techniques in early electro-acoustic composition, and the music of Mexican mid-century wrestling films. Mireya has been a teaching assistant for the music department and the film studies program at Stanford, and has been a film critic for the Cinequest Film Festival. She has participated in various theatre productions around the San Francisco Bay Area. Last year, she performed solo and collaborated as a dramaturg in the staging of Rodrigo Garcia’s The Spanish Butcher at Stanford.
Corrie Potter

Hi! I’m a doctoral student in the School of Education. I research teaching and learning at the college level. I have a BA in Political Science from Cal, and an MA in Political Science from U Wisconsin-Madison. When I’m not hard at work on my research (hah!) I keep busy hiking and gardening. The top-played song on my iPod right now is Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart”.
