SCAs
Sophomore College Assistants (SCAs) have three roles: academic advisor, residence staff and teaching assistant. They will report to and collaborate with course faculty as well as Resident Directors in the dorms.

SCA: Sarah Grandin
Course: Food and Politics
Faculty: Reich
Bio: Sarah Grandin '11 is double majoring in Art History and Comparative Literature. She has been cooking since age 12, and before coming to Stanford, she spent the year cooking in Michelin-starred restaurants in San Francisco and Paris. This year she received a research grant to do archival research at the Louvre on an eccentric 19th-century objets d'art collector, so she was able to spend her summer with ample view of the Eiffel Tower. When she's not cooking, reading, writing, or doing theater, you can find Sarah consuming massive amounts of scrumptious, satisfying, sustainable food.

SCA: Ned Henningsen
Course: Natural History, Marine Biology, and Research
Faculty: Thompson
Bio: Hello! I'm Ned Henningsen, from Andover, MA. I'll be returning to Stanford as a junior after having taken a two-year leave of absence to study History and Literature at the University of Bologna in Italy. At Stanford I'll be majoring in History, Literature and the Arts (HLA) and while living in Casa Italiana for my last two years I hope to establish an Organic Garden and cook lots and lots of good food. Before all that begins I have the great good fortune of being an SCA for Stuart Thompson's course in Monterey and I can't wait for it to start.

SCA: Astasia Myers
Course: American Foreign Policy and the Challenges of the Twenty-First Century
Faculty: Stedman
Bio: Astasia Myers is a junior double majoring in political science and international relations, with a minor in economics. Her primary focus is Asian geopolitical issues including international security threats (ex: naval expansion) and democratization (ex: comparative trajectories). Astasia is looking forward to being the SCA for "American Foreign Policy in the Twentieth Century," and can't wait to run an exhilarating 24-hour simulation.
