Student Arts Grants

Quarterly Grants

Quarterly grants provide for small independent student projects, as well as follow-up expenses associated with larger projects. A student may, for example, use a quarterly grant to develop a film script and later apply for a major grant to produce the film.

  • Applications due October 8, 2007; January 22, 2008; and April 21, 2008
  • $1,500 budget limit

Major Grants

Major grants support substantial, in-depth projects that normally span several quarters. Priority is given to projects that culminate in an honors thesis or some other capstone product. It is exceptionally rare for sophomores to receive major grants.

  • Applications due March 3, 2008
  • $5,200 budget limit; budget may include a stipend.

Chappell Lougee Scholarships

Chappell Lougee Scholarships can be used by sophomores undertaking substantial projects in the arts. Recipients become members of an interdisciplinary scholarly mentoring community that includes special events, preparation for a capstone project or honors, and fellowships and graduate school advising.

  • Applications due December 4, 2007
  • $5,200 budget limit; budget may include a stipend.
