Arts Intensive: Staff Opportunities

The Arts Intensive Program is a 2-1/2 week resident summer program offering a unique immersion into the process of making art in a rich community of collaboration. The program is characterized by an atmosphere of intense creative exploration, in which students, through collaboration with their professors, peers, and guest artists create a community.  Classes will meet for three hours each weekday (9 a.m. to 12 noon). Field trips, lectures and other arts activities will be planned for evenings & weekends. Students will choose from among 6 workshops focusing on a specific art form.  The workshops will culminate in the creation of individual and group projects.

Students who serve as Arts Intensive Program Assistants (AIPAs) will be instrumental in building a creative support team and fostering collaboration among all participants. AIPAs will have the unique opportunity to work closely with an arts faculty and learn creative workshopping skills. The AIPAs live in the Arts Intensive Program residence for the duration of the program and serve as mentors and teaching assistants. The AIPAs are the primary point of contact for students in the program. They are responsible for students in and outside of the classroom. Training and orientation of AIPAs is required and takes place the weekend prior to the start of the program.

Arts Intensive Assistant Director

If you are a graduate student interested in applying for an Assistant Director position, please e-mail us at artsintensive@stanford.edu. Arts Intensive Assistant Director is the residence-based supervisor to the course AIPA staff. Interested applicants should apply on-line by March 31st and email the Arts Intensive Program at artsintensive@stanford.edu to introduce themselves and to request an interview. We would like to complete the recruitment process before the students leave campus for the summer.

Arts Intensive Program Assistant

Each faculty member will be assisted by two Arts Intensive Program Assistants (AIPA). AIPAs have a combination of two roles: residence staff and teaching assistant. They will report to and collaborate with the faculty, as well as an Assistant Director in the dorm.
